I constructed ‘painting machines’- mechanized processes resulting in work based on chance beyond my control. I understood that the resulting ‘Art’ was no different if I drew ‘a line’ or an apparatus that I created drew ‘a line’.
My machines included: a ‘wind-screen-wiper painting machine’, a ‘fan-painting-machine’, a ‘clothes-peg painting-machine’, a ‘spinning milkshake painting-machine’, ‘a spinning washing-line with white sheets dipped in paint painting-machine’.
The twirling ‘fan-painting-machine’ evolved into a ‘twirling-human-being painting-machine’, where I became the human fan, or a swirling prism, my arms throwing out colour onto the surrounding canvas.
